RBI has informed in its notification dtd 23rd December 2015 that Pre 2005 currency notes continue to be legal tender till 30th June 2016 but the same can be exchanged only at select bank branches and offices of RBI. This is in modification of earlier communication informing free exchange at any bank branches till 31st December 2015.
